Save the Family’s (STF) Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program is a grant provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). Families in this program are Veterans that are currently homeless (in shelter or other places not meant for habitation).
The program provides short-term rental assistance and specialized veteran-specific case coordination services to help the family connect with available Veteran and community resources, which may include the following:
- Health care services
- Daily living services
- Personal financial planning services
- Transportation services
- Fiduciary and payee services
- Legal services
- Child care services
- Housing counseling services
In some cases, funds to prevent eviction are available, given that the family meets guidelines outlined by the VA. Veteran families are also eligible for all of the supportive services provided by Save the Family. The targeted populations of this grant are veterans with minor children living in the household and single female veterans.
The SSVF program receives all referrals for services from the Family Housing Hub located at 3307 E. Van Buren Street in Phoenix. The Family Housing Hub hours of operation are Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and they can be reached at (602) 595-8700.
