One of the moms in our programs recently came to Save the Family’s main office with her four children. They were there for backpacks and school supplies, and got more than she bargained for.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, one of the services we provide our families is help with Back to School shopping to ensure every student has a new backpack filled with all the grade level-appropriate supplies needed for a successful return to the classroom.
This year, because of the generous donations from Arizonans for Children, The Arizona Rangers, and Dick’s Sporting Goods, we were able to outfit nearly 200 children with brand new shoes, too. We are continually grateful for our community coming together for the families in our programs.
After picking up items for her children, Sarah sent along the following to our staff:
“I am in tears. I am so thankful for the backpacks and shoes for my kids…..it was like they were reading my mind that I desperately needed these things. I couldn’t believe there were new shoes too! You guys have saved my family so many times and I want you to know how much it means to me and my kids. I really want to thank the ladies handing out the stuff – they were so kind and double checked to make sure I had the right backpacks for my kids’ age– they didn’t have to do that – but they did – which lets me know how much they care.”
When our community comes together in this way, it lets our families know that people see them, they care, and they want them to succeed. Thanks to the support of our generous donors, we are able to provide these life-changing moments!
