AZ Family Highlights Our Impact on Homelessness

Apr 7, 2025 | News

Michelle’s situation spiraled quickly after she was unexpectedly laid off. She and her 16-year-old son, Gregory, were evicted with nowhere to go and turned to their car for shelter. Shuffling between shelters, parking lots, and low-budget hotels, they were exhausted and losing hope.

Then they found Save the Family. Michelle called it “a wonderful God send.” After entering our Step Up to Independence program, Michelle and Gregory finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Michelle secured a well-paying job, and Gregory was able to focus on school without the constant worry of where they would sleep that night.

With the support of their Case Manager and Save the Family’s Trauma Therapist, Michelle and Gregory overcame homelessness. They prioritized their mental health and their long-term self-sufficiency and today, they have a place of their own.

Michelle and Gregory recently sat down with Susan Casper at AZ Family to share their journey. They hope others in similar situations will know they are not alone and that overcoming homelessness is possible.
