On April 23, 2026, community leaders, partners, and future residents gathered to celebrate a major milestone for affordable housing in Phoenix—the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Phoenix Scholar House.
Developed by Save the Family Foundation of Arizona in partnership with Brinshore Development, Phoenix Scholar House is the first community of its kind in the state, designed specifically for single parents pursuing higher education. More than just a place to live, it offers stable, affordable housing paired with academic support, career development, and wraparound services.
But beyond the speeches, the true impact of Phoenix Scholar House is best understood through the families that will live there.
For Sierra, a nursing student and single mother, life has been a constant balancing act—juggling school, a part-time job, and raising her three children, all while navigating the uncertainty of housing.

Now, that has changed.
At Phoenix Scholar House, Sierra finally has the stability she needs to focus on what matters most. “I can focus on my degree, because school is very important,” she shared. “Knowing we’re safe here and have a good home—I am so grateful.”
That sense of stability is already making a difference. “I’ve already seen significant growth in my grades, just by living here… living peacefully,” she said.
It’s a simple but powerful shift—one that turns survival into progress.
For Sierra, it means being able to fully commit to her education and move closer to a career in nursing. For her child, it means growing up in a home defined by safety, consistency, and possibility.
Stories like Sierra’s are exactly why Phoenix Scholar House exists.
Too often, single parents are forced to choose between pursuing a degree and keeping a roof over their children’s heads. This community removes that barrier—offering both in one place, along with the tools needed to succeed.
Phoenix Scholar House is a place where determination meets opportunity, and where families can begin to rewrite their futures.
