Save the Family Foundation of Arizona and Brinshore Development are proud to celebrate a major milestone for Phoenix Scholar House: being named Urban Development of the Year by the Arizona Department of Housing as part of the 2026 Housing Hero Awards.
Presented during the 2026 Arizona Housing Forum, the Housing Hero Awards recognize outstanding achievements in affordable housing and community development across the state. Phoenix Scholar House was honored for its innovative approach to bringing affordable housing, higher education and family support together under one roof.
Opened in April 2026, Phoenix Scholar House is Arizona’s first education-focused affordable housing community designed specifically to help single parents pursue post-secondary education while raising their families. Built on the nationally recognized Family Scholar House model, the community provides residents with affordable housing along with academic support, career development, financial education and family-focused services.
“This project was built around the belief that housing stability can be the beginning of something much bigger,” said Robyn Julien, CEO of Save the Family Foundation of Arizona. “When families have a safe, affordable place to call home, they can focus on what’s next – graduation, building their career and achieving financial stability and success.”
