Construction is nearly complete at Phoenix Scholar House, and recently, Save the Family Foundation of Arizona welcomed community partners for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the project in Central Phoenix.
Located near 18th Place and Thomas Road, Phoenix Scholar House is a 56-unit affordable housing community designed specifically for single-parent families pursuing higher education. As the first development of its kind in Arizona to follow the nationally recognized Family Scholar House model, this project represents a major milestone—not just for Save the Family, but for the future of affordable housing and workforce development in the Valley.
During the small-group tours, guests had the opportunity to walk through nearly finished units and shared spaces, getting a firsthand look at how Phoenix Scholar House will support families as they work toward long-term stability. More than housing, the community is intentionally designed to be a place where parents can focus on education, children can thrive, and families can build a foundation for financial independence.

Phoenix Scholar House builds on that legacy at a time when Arizona’s housing crisis continues to push working families out of safe, affordable homes. By pairing stable housing with education and supportive services, this model offers a proven solution—one that aligns with Save the Family’s strong track record, with 80% of families successfully transitioning to permanent housing upon program completion.
We’re grateful to those who joined us for this early look and helped share the story of what’s to come. Phoenix Scholar House will officially open its doors later this spring. We can’t wait to welcome families home and see this vision fully realized.
Stay tuned for more updates as Phoenix Scholar House moves from construction to community—and from promise to impact.
